Twisted nylon rope is one of the most widely used synthetic ropes in general use. Some general characteristics are:
- Twisted nylon rope is elastic and will stretch (up to a point) rather than break
- Absorbs sudden loads well and provides excellent energy absorption
- Easy to splice
- Very resistant to mold, fungus, mildew, gasoline, oil, diesel fuel, grease, and most chemicals
- Can be stored wet
- Will not float in water
- More economical than braided nylon
- Excellent multi-purpose rope where high strength is needed
- Available in 3 strand or 4 strand constructions
