Bonded twine is normally twisted nylon twine that is coated with a bonding or resin material. This coating solves several problems inherent with uncoated twines. The bond or resin is a liquid the loose twine is dipped into, then dried, then wound onto spools. This method of dipping, drying, then winding gives an even coating throughout the twine.
- Bonded twine has superior knot holding capabilities- uncoated twine with knots will slip under pressure
- Bonded twine will not unravel or untwist when cut
- Bonded twine is more abrasion resistant when rubbing or chaffing against something- will last longer than uncoated twine
- The bond or resin on the twine will not rub off onto other surfaces
- Bonded twine is more expensive than uncoated twine
- Bonded twine is heavier than uncoated twine, and the yield (feet or meters long per pound or kilo) is less than uncoated twine
- Bonded twine is stiffer (harder) than uncoated twine
- Available in different colors- green being the most common color other than white
- Ideal for use in hanging (making) fish nets, crafts, or any application where knot integrity is important
