Leadcore Rope is a specialty rope that has several uses. It is a braided rope that has a core or center made with several strands of small lead beads. The strands of lead beads are then covered with a jacket made with polyester, polypropylene, or polyethylene.
Leadcore provides a uniform distribution of weight along the edge of a net and is often used in:
- Gill Nets and Trammel Nets to provide uniform weight along the bottom of the nets. Since the lead weights are inside the rope, the nets can be pulled smoothly and quietly from a boat without external leads catching or bumping against the sides of the boat.
- Sports Nets to prevent wind from blowing the bottom of the nets up. Used often for bottom ropes in baseball / softball batting cages, foul ball nets, golf barrier nets, and other sport nets.
Leadcore is rated by the weight per 600 feet ( 183 meters). Example #30 leadcore will weigh 30 pounds per 600 feet ( 2.4 ounces per yard or 74 grams per meter).
Fitec “Five Star” Leadcore is constructed with a jacket of strong, abrasion-resistant (to prevent premature chafing) polyester/polypropylene cover over evenly balanced, twist free, strands of lead beads. Our leadcore is flexible and non-kinking with a uniform diameter and weight . Fitec leadcore is used on strong wooden reels that are individually boxed and can be shipped by UPS, Fed Ex, or Parcel Post.
