Double Braided Polyester Rope
- Double braided ropes are constructed when a core of fibers are braided together to form a rope, then a jacket of fibers is braided over the core of braided fibers.
- Also known as braid on braid or yacht braid
- Polyester fiber is strong
- Will sink in water
- Will absorb almost no water
- Has a very high abrasion resistance even when wet
- Very little stretch or elasticity compared to nylon
- Not affected by most chemicals or fuels
- Good ultra violet (U.V.) resistance
- Can be spliced
- Usually less expensive than double braided nylon
- Ideal when an application requires a strong, abrasion resistant, low stretch rope that will sink in water
