Double Braided Nylon Rope
- Double braided ropes are constructed when a core of fibers are braided together to form a rope, then a jacket of fibers is braided over the core of braided fibers.
- Also known as braid on braid or yacht braid
- Nylon fiber is one of the strongest fibers in common use
- Nylon is lighter than polyester
- Will sink in water
- Has good abrasion resistance
- Has more stretch or elasticity than polyester
- Not affected by most chemicals or fuels
- Good ultra violet (U.V.) Resistance
- Can be spliced
- Usually is more expensive than double braided polyester
- Ideal when an application requires a very strong, abrasion-resistant, elastic rope that will sink in water
