Floatline Rope
In Stock for Immediate Shipment
Float line rope is a specialty rope that is primarily used in gill and trammel fishing nets. Float line is a braided rope that has a core or center of foam. The foam center or core is covered with a polypropylene or polyethylene jacket.
Float line provides a uniform distribution of buoyancy (flotation) along the top of a net. Float line usually replaces external floats (sometimes float line is used in conjuction with external floats). Since there are normally no external floats, gill and trammel nets can be pulled smoothly and quietly from a boat.
Float line is rated by the amount of buoyancy per yard. Example: 3/8 inch diameter = float line’s buoyancy is 0.9 ounces per yard (26 grams per .91 meters).
Fitec’s “Five Star” brand of Float line is constructed with a braided jacket or covering of monofilament polypropylene (for strength) over a foam core. Our Float line is uniform in diameter, flexible, and is consistent in buoyancy.
